The purpose is to answer questions from Brazilian exporters about the Mercosur-Egypt Free Trade Agreement, which went into effect last year, and explain what changes in the new process of proof of origin, among other red tape. Brazilian companies can now export and import paying less tariffs and taxes over certain products listed by the agreement.<\/p>\n<p>The Arab Chamber Special Projects Advisor Tamer Mansour underscored the importance for Brazilian exporting companies to issue the new certificate of origin. \u201cThe taxes on sugar exports, for instance, dropped from 23% to 2% after the agreement, with the new certificate,\u201d he explained. Around 78% of products making up exports to Egypt are covered by the agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Representing the Egyptian ministry in the lecture will be Micheal Gamal, general director of international agreements, and Rania Hagrass, head of the foreign relations department. From the Arab Chamber will be its president, Rubens Hannun, and the CEO Michel Alaby, and they will also answer questions. The Arab Chamber\u2019s headquarters is at Avenida Paulista, 283, 11<sup>th<\/sup> floor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trade balance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Egypt has bought over USD 2.417 billion worth of Brazilian products in 2017, up 36.5% in comparison to 2016. Among the products exported by Brazil are beef, cereals, ores and inorganic chemical products. In turn, Brazil imported USD 155.47 million worth of products from the Arab country, up 64.7% in the same comparison.
