S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 President Michel Temer and Finance minister Henrique Meirelles have confirmed their presence at the Brazil-Arab Countries Economic Forum, to be held by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> next Monday (April 2) at S\u00e3o Paulo\u2019s Hotel Unique. According to information from the Chamber, both Temer and Meirelles will speak during the afternoon.<\/p>\n

Meirelles will discuss Brazil\u2019s economic recovery. In the morning, for the opening lecture, economist Zeina Latif of investment firm XP Investimentos will go over the Brazilian economic scenario, and Khaled Hanafy, secretary-general of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for Arab Countries, will cover the economies of Arab countries. The General Union comprises organizations from across the Middle East and North Africa and the so-called joint chambers, like the Arab Brazilian Chamber.<\/p>\n

Prior to the lectures, presidents Rubens Hannun of the Arab Chamber and Nael Kabariti, of the Union, will officially launch the event. The Forum will wrap up with final considerations from Arab Brazilian Chamber CEO Michel Alaby and Hanafy.<\/p>\n

Throughout the day, six panels featuring Brazilian and Arab speakers will cover the following themes: Innovation and Technology, Food Security and Logistics, Investment, Renewable Energies, Halal (goods and services for Muslims), and Image & Branding and Tourism.<\/p>\n

Panelists include Roberto Rodrigues, former Agriculture minister of Brazil, Pl\u00ednio Nastari, president of consulting firm Datagro, the chef Alex Atala, Marcos Cintra, president of Brazil’s Funding Authority for Studies and Projects (FINEP), Hussein Kalout, secretary of Strategic Affairs of the Brazilian government, Ricardo Santin, Markets vice president of the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), and Ted Lago, president of the Port of Itaqui, Maranh\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

From the Arab side, the panelists are Anders Kron, the commercial manager of the Sohar Free Trade Zone and Port, in Oman, Sami Eltamawy, the technology executive of Dubai startups Insydo and BrandRipplr, Marwan Barakat, the chief economist of Lebanese bank Audi, Abd El Kader Darwish, vice president of the Suez Canal Economic Zone in Egypt, Ahmed El Antri Tibaoui, CEO of Algeria\u2019s World Trade Center, Mohamed Saleh Badri, secretary-general of the International Halal Accreditation Forum (IHAF), and Nidal Abouzaki, managing director\u00a0of Orient Planet, a public relations company based in Dubai, among many others.<\/p>\n

Until Thursday (29) evening, 630 people had registered to attend the forum, with at least 100 coming from Arab countries. They are government officials, business owners, diplomats, investors and professionals from many areas. Business networking is included in the schedule.<\/p>\n
