S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Jordan has been standing out in the digital economy and now has invited Brazilians to be a part of this process. In a seminar on the Arab country this Tuesday (03), Jordanian leaders talked about investment opportunities to Brazilians in Jordan and highlighted the information technology and communications sector. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n

According to a presentation by the member of the board of directors of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Mohammad Tahboub, the country has over 600 companies in the sector and has created an action plan in the area called Reach 2015<\/em>, which aims to offer support to people trying to develop their digital businesses. Among its targets are to achieve a growth of 25% to 30% to the sector\u2019s companies until 2025 and encourage the creation of around five to seven thousand new businesses in the area.<\/p>\n

In an interview to ANBA, Tahboub said that Brazilians could invest either in start-ups or in the development of business platforms or the digital transformation of other companies in sectors such as industry, hospital, financial, education, among others. \u201cAny company from Brazil could come to Jordan do business,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

According to Tahboub, Brazilians can open their own businesses in Jordan, with full ownership. The director also told that the country already has in place a full structure, regulations and conveniences for the digital economy.<\/p>\n

Among the products and services in the area in which Jordan has been standing out are e-learning initiatives, hospital management systems, e-commerce websites, digital security, among others. Jordan is an exporting country in the sector and is looking to sell to Brazil also, said Tahboub.<\/p>\n

Jordan\u2019s also interested in exchanging information with Brazil in the information technology and communications field. In the seminar at the Arab Chamber, the president of the Amman Chamber of Industry, Ziad Hamsi, mentioned that Brazil has a large experience in the field. \u201cWe would like to extend cooperation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Nael Kabariti, president of Jordan Chamber of Commerce, also spoke on his country\u2019s potential in the technology sector and was very optimistic regarding the future of Brazil-Jordan relations. \u201cWe\u2019re in Brazil to write this history,\u201d said Kabariti on the countries\u2019 relations.<\/p>\n

The Jordanians highlighted the country\u2019s prevailing peace, the stable political scenario, the favorable business environment and the possibilities opening up, through the country, in reconstruction projects in neighboring conflict-stricken Syria and Iraq. \u201cMy country coexists in peace with everyone,\u201d said the president of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, who is also the president of the Union of Arab Chambers.<\/p>\n

Kabariti was very interested in Brazilian investments in Jordan and stated that the current investment legislation gives foreigners full certainty of investment returns, that the country has excellent free trade and industrial zones, availability of funding and an excellent labor force, among other compelling points. \u201cJordan\u2019s oil is its people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The president of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Rubens Hannun, said that the future is already being built for the relations between Brazil and Jordan. The future of Brazil-Arab Countries relations was the theme of the Brazil-Arab Countries Economic Forum, which took place on Monday (02) in S\u00e3o Paulo and was attended by the Jordanian delegation. \u201cIt makes us very happy that this future-building is already ongoing with Jordan,\u201d said Hannun.<\/p>\n

Jordan\u2019s ambassador in Brazil, Malek Twal, also spoke at the seminar, and said that the presence of the Jordanian delegation in Brazil shows that the country wants to strengthen ties with Brazil. The president of Amman Chamber of Commerce, Issa Mourad, did a presentation on sectors available for investments in Jordan, ad Alaa Ezz, of the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry, also spoke on the support for investing in the country.<\/p>\n

Agreement <\/strong><\/p>\n

The seminar also included presentations on Jordan\u2019s tourism, made by the Marketing manager of the country\u2019s Tourism Council, Majd Abu Arqub, and on Jordan\u2019s economic potential and its trade relations with Brazil, given by the Arab Chamber\u2019s executive of International Business, Fernanda Baltazar. The Arab Chamber\u2019s CEO, Michel Alaby, made a brief statement.<\/p>\n

At the end of the meeting, the Arab Chamber\u2019s president and the president of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce signed, representing their organizations, a memorandum of understanding. The agreement aims to promote cooperation, information exchange and joint actions between the chambers.<\/p>\n

Business persons from Brazil and Jordan attended the seminar and, after the event, shared contacts and talked about business possibilities.<\/p>\n
