With regard to the volume shipped, it may reach 2.4 million tonnes, a 25% increase in comparison to 2003. If these figures are confirmed, it will be a new historical record for the sector.<\/P><br \/> <P>From January to October, exports totalled US$ 2.1 billion, or 47% more than in the same period last year. In terms of volumes shipped, the total was 2 million tonnes, 26% growth when compared to the first 10 months in 2003.<\/P><br \/> <P>In the month of October, exports were equivalent to US$ 217.8 million, a growth of 44% in comparison to the same month in 2003. In terms of quantities shipped, the total was 219,300 tonnes, an increase of 39.4%.<\/P><br \/> <P>The Middle East, the main market for Brazilian chicken meat, purchased the equivalent to US$ 549 million in the period from January to October this year, which represents a growth of 35% when compared to the same period in 2003. With regard to volumes shipped to the region, the total was 613,500 tonnes in the first ten months of the year, a growth of 21.5% with regard to the same period in 2003.<\/P><br \/> <P>In the region, the main importer was Saudi Arabia, which imported 265,900 tonnes from January to October 2004, representing 43% of the total shipped to the Middle East.<\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is the estimate of the Brazilian Poultry Exporters Association (Abef).
