The event will address obstacles to foreign direct investment (FDI) flows and to development.<\/p>\n<p>Going into its eighth edition, the AIM is intended to provide a platform for FDI, getting government officials and private sector players with projects to sit down with prospective investors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe forthcoming Annual Investment Meeting will focus on accelerating FDI flows across the world and explore new ways to boost investment and trade, a press release quoted AIM CEO Dawood Al Shezawi as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Global FDI flows slid by 16% last year from 2016 to USD 1.52 trillion, according to numbers from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).<\/p>\n<p>Developed countries were affected the most, seeing as flows going into developing nations climbed 2% to USD 653 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Topics under discussion at the AIM will include: Driving sustainable development through FDI; investment in the fourth industrial revolution; how technology is changing the future of productivity and growth; public-private partnerships for infrastructure projects, sovereign wealth and private equity funds and their role in investment.<\/p>\n<p>The event targets industries such as agribusiness, energy, mining, finance, infrastructure and logistics, computing and telecom, industry, real estate, tourism and trade.<\/p>\n<p>Big numbers are expected, with authorities coming in from over 40 different countries, executives from 140 countries, 100 investment promotion agencies, 50 national pavilions, 90 speakers and some 1,000 delegates, totaling 20,000 participants.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brazilians<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Brazil will be featured with its Agriculture Ministry investments coordinator Reinaldo Vergara, Maranh\u00e3o state\u2019s Itaqui Port Authority chairman Ted Lago, and the chairman of Paran\u00e1 state investment agency (Ag\u00eancia Paran\u00e1 de Desenvolvimento &#8211; Investe Paran\u00e1) Adalberto Netto.<\/p>\n<p>The Port of Itaqui press office said Lago will introduce the seaport, in a bid to find space in the market as well as prospective investors. He will also represent Maranh\u00e3o state governor Fl\u00e1vio Dino at the event.<\/p>\n<p>Netto said Investe Paran\u00e1 will be at the AIM for the third time. The agency will be there on behalf of the state government and the Paran\u00e1 Cooperatives Organization (Ocepar).
