The information is from the Brazilian Association of Shoe Manufacturers (Abical\u00e7ados). In 2003, 188.6 million pairs of shoes were shipped.<\/P><br \/> <P>The revenues, released in the beginning of January, was of US$ 1.809 billion, 17 % above 2003, when the industry had a turnover of US$ 1.549 billion. The leaders in purchases of Brazilian shoes were the United States (56.6%), United Kingdom (7.5%), Argentina (5.8%), Mexico (3.8%) and Canada (2.8%).
