The Arab country imported 18,890 tonnes of the product in February, which generated US$ 19.88 million in revenues. However, when compared to last year, the shipping dropped 7.03% in terms of volume and 2.04% in terms of revenues, according to information supplied by the Association of Brazilian Beef Industry and Exporters Association (Abiec).<\/P><br \/> <P>In total, Brazilian exports of raw and industrialized cattle beef and organs totalled US$ 189.3 million last year, which represented an increase of 27.03% over the figure for February 2004. Shipping in turn totalled 153,400 tonnes, 28.10% more than in the same month last year.<\/P><br \/> <P>According to the Abiec, the growth in exports to new markets has been one of the highlights of recent months. Algeria, for example, presented growth of 816% in terms of revenues last month when compared to the same period in 2004. The country imported US$ 2.98 million and a total of 2,770 tonnes were shipped, an increase of 849.75%.<\/P><br \/> <P>For this year, the association intends to organize two workshops to promote the positive results of exports of the product to Egypt and to Bulgaria, which presented growth of 1,578.9% in terms of revenues and 1,620 in terms of volume.
