S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 On May 5 and 6, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the government of Egypt and the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) will co-host a high-level conference in Cairo. The aim is to promote a higher economic growth and job creation in the country.<\/p>\n
According to a IMF statement, the event\u2019s purpose is to acknowledge the success of the macroeconomic stabilization achieved by Egypt and help build a consensus around the needed reforms to attain higher and more inclusive economic growth and create jobs sustainably to meet the needs of Egypt\u2019s young and growing population.<\/p>\n
The event will gather international and Egyptian high-level policymakers, plus other experts, to exchange ideas and perspectives on successful experiences of structural reforms around the globe \u2013 and how they can be relevant within the Egyptian context.<\/p>\n
The IMF highlighted some topics to be discussed in the conference: the macroeconomic stabilization as basis for inclusive3 growth and job creation; successful reforms strategies and lessons from other countries; and policies to promote private sector-led inclusive growth. Also in the schedule is a conclusion session, in which representatives from civil society and academic and private sector will voice their opinions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe conference will aim to shed light on global best practices and successful relevant experiences that can help enhance Egypt\u2019s homegrown structural reform agenda and address its medium-term challenges,\u201d says the statement.<\/p>\n
Among the speakers are the country\u2019s prime minister, Sherif Ismail, IMF First Deputy Managing Director David Lipton, Egypt\u2019s CBE Governor Tarek Amer, and Egypt\u2019s minister of Finance Amr El Garhy.<\/p>\n
