S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 A course will teach Palestinian folk dance Dabke in S\u00e3o Paulo in four lessons, lasting two hours each, from May 5 to 26, 5 pm at Al Janiah, a downtown venue and restaurant on Rui Barbosa street, 269. The course costs BRL 190.<\/p>\n

The course is designed to revisit Palestine\u2019s cultural and historical heritage. Dabke is a folk dance found in Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and Jordan. Often performed in weddings, festivals and special events, Dabke has taken on new significance in Palestine since its occupation, as dance become a form of resistance.<\/p>\n

Lessons will be taught by the Syrian-born, Palestinian-naturalized Rawa Alsagheere, who moved to Brazil three years ago.
