The information was made public on the Federal Government website.

The minister also said he intends to increase foreign tourist arrivals. “We have deregulated charter flights. This means cutting down paperwork. Traditional visa requirements have also been eliminated, and e-visas have been put in place for the United States, Canada, Japan and Australia, and in the four months since there has been a 50% increase in arrivals,” he explained.

A new step towards red tape reduction would be the approval of a bill allowing an increase foreign ownership of airlines, currently limited to 20%. According to Lummertz, that would add flights in the country: “More competition, so that so-called low-cost carriers can make their way into Brazil,” he told the website.

Translated by Gabriel Pomerancblum

Tomaz Silva/Agência Brasil

Vinicius Lummertz, the new minister of Tourism, announced the goal.
