S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> and Egypt\u2019s Food Export Council (FEC) are inviting businesses to the Brazil-Egypt Business Meeting<\/em>, including a seminar, a tasting of Egyptian dishes and business-to-business meetings with the 12 Egyptian companies taking part in the S\u00e3o Paulo Supermarkets Association Show (Apas Show<\/a>).\u00a0The event will begin at 9:30 am on Thursday (10) at the Arab Chamber\u2019s auditorium in S\u00e3o Paulo. The seminar will cover the Egyptian market, key business opportunities and obstacles facing imports of goods from Egypt to Brazil, in light of the Mercosur-Egypt trade agreement effective as of last year. The presentation will be followed by B2B sessions with Egyptian exporters and foods will be sampled including juices, jams, sauces, condiments, pickled items, dairy items, vegetables, dates, olives, olive oil, pasta, wheat flour, grains, herbs and spices.<\/p>\n

Arab Chamber international business executive Fernanda Baltazar said the Mercosur-Egypt agreement is fueling trade, and further growth is expected. \u201cThrough this agreement, we expect Brazil-Egypt relations to pick up steam and diversification to increase with the addition of new types of products.\u201d Baltazar said Egypt has high-quality goods to offer which aren\u2019t yet known in Brazil. \u201cThis will be a good opportunity to share information and sample the products,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Bilateral trade<\/strong><\/p>\n

Brazil-Egypt trade amounted to USD 2.573 billion in 2017, with USD 2.418 billion worth of goods shipped from Brazil, including sugar, beef and poultry, maize and iron ore. Imports to Brazil from Egypt reached USD 155.47 million, comprising mostly fertilizers, fuel and horticultural products.<\/p>\n
