Since the beginning of 2003 were inaugurated in the state the following slaughterhouses: Frigor\u00edfico Mercosul, in the city of Alegrete, Frigor\u00edfico Alibem, in Santa Rosa, Frigor\u00edfico Centro Sul, in Dom Pedrito, and Frigor\u00edfico Mercosul, in Cap\u00e3o do Le\u00e3o.<\/P><br \/> <P>Friboi is interested in building a plant, most probably in the city of S\u00e3o Borja, with the capacity for slaughtering 1,200 animals per day. The investment will be of about US$ 60 million and is likely to generate about 1,000 direct jobs.
