{"id":193603,"date":"2018-05-18T07:00:06","date_gmt":"2018-05-18T10:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/?p=193603"},"modified":"2019-06-30T16:33:47","modified_gmt":"2019-06-30T19:33:47","slug":"arab-artists-perform-storytelling-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/arab-artists-perform-storytelling-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Arab artists to perform in storytelling meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The eighth edition of <em>Boca do C\u00e9u \u2013 Encontro Internacional de Contadores de Hist\u00f3rias<\/em> (Sky Mouth \u2013 International Storytellers Meeting) is scheduled to take place in S\u00e3o Paulo from May 22 to 26, with the presence of international artists, including two Arabs: Nacer Kh\u00e9mir, from Tunisia, and Malika Halbaoui, from Morocco.<\/p>\n<p>The event will take place at Sesc Bom Retiro, Oficinal Cultural Oswald de Andrade, Cinemateca Brasileira and Audit\u00f3rio Ibirapuera. It\u2019s biennial and will have around one hundred free activities, among shows, workshops, dialogue circle and artistic performances.<\/p>\n<p>To the project\u2019s curator and founder, Regina Machado, \u201cto tell stories is an art that\u2019s been around since the ancient times and has travelled through the times and places of humankind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Arab artists, the other international guests are Charlotte Alston (US), Ana Sofia Paiva (Portugal), Merceder Carri\u00f3n (Peru) and Pepito Mat\u00e9o (France). The Brazilian artists that will perform are Andr\u00e9 Gravat\u00e1, Cristino Wapichana, Daniel D\u2019Andrea, Eric Chartiot, Marcus Borja, Marcelo D\u2019Salete, Rosana Re\u00e1tegui, Ti\u00e3o Carvalho and Vin\u00edcius Mazzon.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Storytelling Nights<\/em> are the highlight of the month at Sesc Bom Retiro, with performances set for May 22, 23 and 24, always at 8 pm. On Thursday (24), the night will be Arab, with Halbaoui and Kh\u00e9mir.<\/p>\n<p>The Moroccan is a storyteller, poet and writes songs, and uses her body and voice in her performance; meanwhile, the Tunisian is a storyteller, film director and writer, and presents stories told by his mom in his childhood and about his country\u2019s culture. At 10 am of the 24<sup>th<\/sup>, a Thursday, Kh\u00e9mir will give another workshop, titled \u201cStoryteller\u2019s Word\u201d, at the same place.<\/p>\n<p>The concert <em>Todo n\u00f3 cego eu desato<\/em> (Every dead knot I untie), at Audit\u00f3rio Ibirapuera, scheduled for Friday (25), at 8 pm, with traditional stories and folk songs from Brazil, Portugal and of African-American tradition, will close the Boca do C\u00e9u meeting.<\/p>\n<p>All the activities in the event are for free and, for the closing concert and the <em>Storytelling Nights<\/em>, tickets will be available at the venue\u2019s box-office one hour before the start. All the performances of <em>Storytelling Nights<\/em> will have simultaneous translation for the Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS), and consecutive translation for Portuguese, when needed.
