Bras\u00edlia \u2013 Brazil\u2019s current account continues to register positive results. In April, for the third consecutive month, the country\u2019s current account registered a surplus in current transactions, which are the net trade in goods and services and net current transfers.<\/p>\n

The surplus stood at USD 620 million, against the surplus of USD 1.149 billion in the same month of 2017, according to data from the Brazilian Central Bank (BC) released this Thursday (24). The BC expects this month to also produce a surplus, of USD 2.5 billion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis result was expected and is part of the period where, seasonally, we get more favorable results for current transactions,\u201d said the head of the BC\u2019s Statistics Department, Fernando Rocha.<\/p>\n

Since January registered a deficit, the result for the year\u2019s first four months was a deficit of USD 2.604 billion, against USD 3.495 billion registered in the same period of 2017.<\/p>\n
