The index was released this Wednesday (30) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).<\/p>\n<p>In comparison to the same period of last year, the Brazilian economy grew 1.2%. IBGE\u2019s manager of regional accounts, Claudia Dion\u00edsio, said that the GDP\u2019s growth in 2018 Q1 took the Brazilian economy to the same level of 2011\u2019s Q1.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we were to compare, today we would be at the same level of 2011\u2019s first half,\u201d she explained. The researcher added that the economy was on the upswing until 2014 and later declined to 2010 numbers, but it has been on the rise since the beginning of 2017.<\/p>\n<p>In current value, the GDP reached BRL 1.641 trillion (USD 460 billion) in 2018\u2019s Q1.<\/p>\n<p>The growth in comparison to the end of last year was the fifth consecutive positive result. The sector that grew the most was the agriculture, with 1.4%.
