The selected works will compete in two categories, with awards being given to best feature film and best short film. The movies can be fiction or non-fiction, domestic or foreigner \u2013 the latter must have Portuguese subtitles. The movies must have at least one woman as director, and those interested can register via the festival\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/elafazcinema.com.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website <\/a>until June 22. The choice of theme is free.<\/p>\n<p>The event is organized by Movida Produtora de Conte\u00fado, with production being handled by Mar\u00e9 Produ\u00e7\u00f5es Cultural and sponsorship by the state of Bahia, and is scheduled for September 19 to 23 in Salvador. The final programme hasn\u2019t been out yet but should include other three parallel exhibitions of women\u2019s cinematography production and debates with the directors, actresses, movie critics and researchers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe goal [of the festival] is to grant visibility to women\u2019s production, since recent research show that they\u2019re still a minority in leading author positions, being less recognized and working with significantly smaller budgets,\u201d said Dayse Porto <em>(pictured above)<\/em>, the festival\u2019s coordinator in a press release. According to her, the event has a feminist profile for highlighting women in leading roles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegarding the works\u2019 themes, we want to discuss all and any topics; if the cinematic view comes from a woman \u2013 being her cis or trans, black, white, native, from different origins \u2013 we will be talking about a women-related topic,\u201d she added.
