S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 In an atmosphere of celebration among nations during the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup, MASP (S\u00e3o Paulo Museum of Art Assis Chateaubriand) will host, in its free span plaza, next Tuesday (26) the closing concert of the group that took part in the International Festival Ethno Brazil<\/em>, which includes artists from ten countries, among them Algeria. The other artists come from Argentina, Germany, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Congo, France, Japan and Mozambique.<\/p>\n

The celebration of culture and rhythm diversity is what moves the orchestra made up of young people, 18 to 30 years old, with a multi-cultural playlist. The festival is taking place in a house at Fazenda Serrinha, in Bragan\u00e7a Paulista, 90 km from S\u00e3o Paulo. Together, Ethno\u2019s musicians are going to workshops, sharing knowledge and teaching each other their countries\u2019 folk songs. This is the first edition in Brazil of the event created by NGO Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI), and it was organized by Amigos do Guri, which also manages Projeto Guri.<\/p>\n

The Algerian singer Yousara Boudah is representing the Arab world. In an interview to ANBA via email, she said she came from Algiers, the capital, especially for the festival, and that this is her first time in Brazil. She\u2019s a professional singer and songwriter and started her professional career in her country 11 years ago. She also took part in the German edition of the Ethno Festival.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a very good experience. I met some Brazilians from S\u00e3o Paulo and loved Brazilian culture and wanted to know more about it, since I realized that Brazilian and African cultures are very close; we have the same energy and that\u2019s what I wanted to experience, plus learn a lot in here, of course,\u201d said the artist.<\/p>\n

The other artists from the group are French acoustic guitar player Louise Calzada; Congolese Mabiala Nkombo; the percussionist of the Mundana Refugi Orchestra, Aria Rita Waengertner Pires; and Brazilian from the state of Mato Grosso Estela Ceregatti, plus accordionist Gabriel Levy and German acoustic guitar player Katryn Doehner.<\/p>\n

Besides the MASP concert, in S\u00e3o Paulo, the orchestra will perform also in Bragan\u00e7a Paulista this Friday (22), at 7 pm; in S\u00e3o Jos\u00e9 dos Campos on Sunday (24), at 10 am; and in Taubat\u00e9 on Monday (25), at 3 pm.
