The auctions are intended to add\u00a0liquidity to foreign exchange markets, thereby preventing volatility in US dollar prices relative to the\u00a0<em>real<\/em>, Brazil\u2019s domestic currency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Central Bank reaffirms that it does not see why currency swaps cannot considerably exceed maximum auctioned\u00a0volumes from\u00a0the past,\u201d a statement from the monetary authority reads.
