During the crop year, Arabica coffee accounted for 86.4% of exports from Brazil, with soluble coffee at 11.4% and Robusta with a meager 2.2%.

The executive remarked, however, that a record 58 million bags are expected next season, and he believes this will mean the industry will “end the year with good performance.” “we will recover the space we lost abroad,” he argued.

The leading buyers of coffee from Brazil during the crop year were the United States, followed by Germany, Italy, Japan, Belgium, Russia, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Canada and France. The United Kingdom was a highlight with a 25.44% hike in imports of Brazilian coffee from the 2016/2017 season, according to Cecafé.

Translated by Gabriel Pomerancblum

Nelson Almeida/AFP

Nelson Almeida/AFP

The first half of the year saw 564,000 60-kg bags of the product shipped to the region.
