Year-on-year in May, it slid by 6.4%. the Ipea said the result is mostly explainable by \u201cthe negative impact of the recent trucker strike on domestic production levels.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Truckers in Brazil went on strike in late May and early June, blocking highways and preventing inputs and goods from reaching seaports and manufacturing facilities. Ipea said numbers weren\u2019t as good as expected, but the strike had a strong impact in May. However, the indicator tends to normalize.<\/p>\n<p>Consumption dropped across the board, especially in capital goods and durable consumer goods, which were respectively down 14.6% and 22.6%.
