S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 A group of women from Brazil\u2019s agribusiness industry is going on a mission to China and the United Arab Emirates in late October and early November of this year. The initiative is from the Mulheres do Agroneg\u00f3cio Brasil<\/em>\u00a0(Brazil Agribusiness Women) movement, established as a corporate arm of the Paran\u00e1-based conglomerate Labhoro. Registrations for the trip are open.<\/p>\n

The first destination will be China, where the travelers will visit seaports, trading companies, a science academy and a consulate. They will also attend lectures and meet with local women associated with the industry, among other activities. On returning to Brazil in early November, they will sit down with the United Arab Emirates Women Association.<\/p>\n

The Mulheres do Agroneg\u00f3cio Brasil<\/em> movement arranges group trips to other countries on a regular basis, mainly to the United States. They have also been to Argentina and are planning a trip to Paraguay. The late October trip will be their first to China and the UAE.<\/p>\n

Labhoro commercial director and movement founder Andrea Cordeiro claims Arab women are fighting for their rights, and hopes the Brazilian women will be able to spot and identify business opportunities in the Arab country.<\/p>\n

The intent of the trips is to gather knowledge on the industry, prospect for business opportunities and develop leadership. The plan is for travelers to convey the information they amass abroad to their peers.<\/p>\n

Andrea Cordeiro says the Mulheres do Agroneg\u00f3cio\u00a0<\/em> travelers and members are mostly agribusiness entrepreneurs \u2013 heirs or successors. Professionals and executives are also eligible to join. Besides the missions, the movement also carries out courses and technical training.<\/p>\n

Mulheres do Agroneg\u00f3cio Brasil<\/em> was established as a company under Labhoro in 2017, but it had begun its activities much earlier, a few years after Andrea Cordeiro joined the group, which was created by her parents. \u201cMy family has always encouraged women professionally,\u201d she says. Once she started working for the company, in 1997, Andrea realized there was resistance from the market, and there were no women in agribusiness.<\/p>\n

After a few years\u2019 worth of training, when she made commercial director, she began attending events and going to companies Labhoro did business with. The next step was to establish Mulheres do Agroneg\u00f3cio Brasil<\/em> as a movement and to organize international missions. At first, only Labhoro clients would travel, but eventually women from across the country began to join.<\/p>\n

Andrea Cordeiro explains that the movement yields no profit to Labhoro. However, she keeps working on it out of idealism, because she believes in the importance of encourage female participation and leadership in Brazilian agribusiness.<\/p>\n

The Labhoro group renders agribusiness-related services in commerce, taxes, planning, succession, investment etc. Its arms include Labhoro Corretora, Labhoro Assessoria, Labhoro Agente Aut\u00f4nomo de Investimentos, Labhoro Servi\u00e7os Mar\u00edtimos and Translabhoro.<\/p>\n
