S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Palestine\u2019s embassy in Bras\u00edlia welcomed this Wednesday (25) 24 children from the \u201cSem Terrinha\u201d, the children\u2019s group from the Landless Workers Movement (MST). The group of children, ages 8 to 12, coming from 19 Brazilian states, stayed for around two hours at the embassy and talked to ambassador Ibrahim Alzeben, planted an olive tree, the symbol of the Arab country, and performed the song \u201cFree Palestine\u201d.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday evening, Alzeben attended an event at the 1st<\/sup> National Meeting of the Sem Terrinha Children at Parque da Cidade, in Bras\u00edlia, where he delivered a short speech and invited the children to visit the embassy the next day. The event, which held music and games, took place from July 23 to 26, gathering approximately 1,200 children. The theme of the first edition of the event was \u201cSem Terrinha on the move: play, smile, fight for a popular land reform!\u201d.<\/p>\n By phone, Alzeben told ANBA that he was very happy to welcome the children at the embassy and that it was a very special day. \u201cIt\u2019s important for us to protect the right of children worldwide to have a dignified life in their own land, especially in this moment, in which we\u2019re experiencing the Israeli occupation, a power occupying our territory, in the Jerusalem district,\u201d said the ambassador.<\/p>\n The Landless Workers Movement, said Alzeben, is a national movement of workers fighting for a dignified life and their right to their own land, and that recognizes that Palestine has a righteous cause. \u201cEvery year, in October, MST sends a delegation to Palestine, to help with the olive harvest; we\u2019re very happy to receive the support and any display of solidarity is a cause for joy for us,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n Translated by S\u00e9rgio Kakitani<\/strong><\/p>\n
