{"id":199582,"date":"2018-08-20T16:43:22","date_gmt":"2018-08-20T19:43:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/?p=199582"},"modified":"2018-08-21T19:40:42","modified_gmt":"2018-08-21T22:40:42","slug":"zayed-sustainability-prize-submissions-78","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/zayed-sustainability-prize-submissions-78\/","title":{"rendered":"Zayed Sustainability Prize submissions up 78%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Abu Dhabi \u2013 The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/zayedsustainabilityprize.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zayed Sustainability Prize<\/a> got over 2,100 submissions from 130 countries for its 2019 edition, up 78% from its 2018 edition (<em>pictured above<\/em>),\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wam.org.ae\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Emirates News Agency (WAM)<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>reported this Monday (20). Over half the submissions \u2013 1,202 \u2013 are for new categories in Food, Water and Health.<\/p>\n<p>Formerly existing categories Energy and Global High Schools got 603 and 295 submissions respectively. The deadline for entry was August 9.<\/p>\n<p>Formerly named Zayed Future Energy Prize, with prizes going to alternative energy projects, the award had its name changed and its scope broadened this year. The accolade is named after UAE founder and president Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who died in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of State and Prize director-general Sultan Bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber said the prize\u2019s expanded mandate further aligns it with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and with the UAE\u2019s own national agenda. \u201cThe strong response from those submitting to this year\u2019s prize, across age groups and geography, demonstrates the global resonance of sustainable development as a critical issue of our time,\u201d <em>WAM<\/em> quoted him as saying.<\/p>\n<p>The countries with the most entries were Nigeria, Kenya, United States and Colombia. Saudi Arabia was the country whose submissions increased the most from last year to this one.
