S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Next Thursday (23), at 7 pm, the Vale do Itaja\u00ed University (Univali)<\/a>, in Itaja\u00ed<\/a>, state of Santa Catarina, will hold a lecture on how the context of doing business within Brazil and the Arab countries relations is influenced by culture. The speaker on the topic will the CEO of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong><\/a>, Michel Alaby (pictured above)<\/em>. The event was organized by the Arab Chamber in a partnership with the university and its target audience is students and business owners.<\/p>\n

The lecture will be the first of many that the Arab Chamber will hold at the university until November, all with topics relating to the Arab market. Alaby will discuss the work of the Arab Chamber for the Brazil-Arabs relations and will present cultural aspects that should be considered when negotiating with the region.<\/p>\n

In May, the Arab Chamber opened a branch office in Itaja\u00ed, in which companies from the region that export to Arab countries can certificate their documents and find support services to negotiate with the Middle East and North Africa. \u201cWe are trying to get closer to academia and local business owners to instill in them the importance of foreign trade, especially with the Arab countries,\u201d Alaby told ANBA.<\/p>\n

The Arab Chamber\u2019s headquarters is in S\u00e3o Paulo and it has chosen Itaja\u00ed as its first branch office due to the region\u2019s economic profile. The region produces food products, especially poultry, and other goods such as furniture and textiles, and it has an important outlet for exports, the port of Itaja\u00ed. According to Alaby, the goods produced by the region of Itaja\u00ed are among those with a strong demand by the Arab market.<\/p>\n

In September, the Arab Chamber will send to Univali its advisor of special projects, Tamer Mansour, to talk about trade between Brazil and the Arab countries, the main constraints and opportunities, trade agreements and Brazil\u2019s role in the region\u2019s food security. In October, the topic will be logistics and foreign trade, and in November it will be halal, the market of goods and services produced according to Islamic rules.<\/p>\n

This Thursday\u2019s event will last around one and a half hour and will be held at Adelaide Konder theater, at campus Itaja\u00ed. At the end, there will be a Q&A session. The event is free.<\/p>\n
