The data is from the Municipal Agricultural Production (PAM) \u2013 2017, shown this Thursday (13) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).<\/p>\n<p>In comparison to 2016, the production hike has reached 28.2%, with a 5.9% growth of the harvested area. According to the IBGE, productivity was boosted by favorable climate conditions, after a year that was impacted by the El Ni\u00f1o phenomenon.<\/p>\n<p>Soy accounted for 48.1% of the group\u2019s production, followed by corn, with 41%. The rice output rose 17.4%, with bean output surging 15.9%. Added together, the 14 products of the cereals, legumes and oil seeds group account for 774% of the country\u2019s harvested area and 54.6% of the output value.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_200862\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-200862\" style=\"width: 350px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/a\u00e7a\u00edibge.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-200862\" src=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/a\u00e7a\u00edibge.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"261\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-200862\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A\u00e7a\u00ed berry was one of the higlights of fruit production<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Fruit production<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 23 fruit products surveyed by IBGE totaled BRL 38.9 billion (USD 9.65 billion) in value in 2017, up 4.6% over 2016 and a new record. The highlight was the orange production with a value of BRL 8.6 billion (USD 2.13 billion), up 2% over the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>The a\u00e7a\u00ed berry output in 2017 reached 1.3 million tons, with a total value of BRL 5.5 billion (USD 1.37 billion).
