Planted forests are concentrated in the south and southeast regions, which accounted for, respectively, 36.1% and 25.4% of the value of total production.<\/p>\n<p>Forestry output rose 3.4% in value, reaching BRL 19.1 billion (USD 4.84 billion) in 2017. From this total, BRL 14.8 billion (USD 3.75 billion) came from silviculture, a 5% increase over 2016. Vegetal extraction generated BRL 4.3 billion (USD 1.09 billion), or 22.7% of the total, a decline of 1.9%.
