The Brazilian production\u00a0<em>Boi Neon<\/em> (<em>pictured above<\/em>) will be shown at 9 pm on Saturday, September 29.<\/p>\n<p><em>Boi Neon<\/em> portrays the world of <em>vaquejadas<\/em>, or Brazilian rodeos, where men on horseback try to knock down an ox by pulling its tail. The main character is Iremar, whose job is to prepare the oxen to enter the arena. He lives with his workmates on the truck that carries the animals, and dreams of a different life as he spends his days with his partner Z\u00e9 and Galega \u2013 a dancer and the truck driver \u2013 as a family unit.<\/p>\n<p>Directed by Gabriel Mascaro and released in 2015, the film is a Brazilian-Uruguayan-Dutch production. It has won over 30 national and international prizes, including an Honorable Mention from the 2015 Toronto Film Festival Jury, the Special Jury Prize at the Havana Film Festival, and Best Director and Honorable Mention from the Jury at the Marrakech Film Festival. Last year it won Best film \u2013 Viewers\u2019 Choice in the Brazilian Cinema Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<p>In Cairo, the 98-minute-long\u00a0<em>Boi Neon<\/em> will be shown in Portuguese with English subtitles. Admission is free.
