{"id":201469,"date":"2018-09-24T12:40:52","date_gmt":"2018-09-24T15:40:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/?p=201469"},"modified":"2018-09-24T13:02:17","modified_gmt":"2018-09-24T16:02:17","slug":"spending-by-brazilians-abroad-down-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/spending-by-brazilians-abroad-down-21\/","title":{"rendered":"Spending by Brazilians abroad down 21%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bras\u00edlia \u2013 Spending by Brazilians abroad totaled USD 1.382 billion in August, a decline of 20.8% over the same month of last year, according to data shown this Monday (24) by the Brazilian Central Bank (BC).<\/p>\n<p>The head of BC\u2019s Statistics Department, Fernando Rocha, pointed out that the average dollar rate went from BRL 3.15 in August 2017 to BRL 3.93 in August 2018, a 24.8% hike.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a quick calculation, it was cheaper for the foreign tourist to come to Brazil and it was more expensive for the Brazilian to spend abroad,\u201d said Rocha.<\/p>\n<p>Spending by foreigners in Brazil reached USD 482 million in August, up 5.9% over the same month of 2017.<\/p>\n<p>From January to August, spending by Brazilians abroad totaled USD 12.686 billion, up 2.07% over 2017\u2019s first eight months.
