S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Opportunities available in the Arab market will be covered in a lecture on Wednesday (26) at the Vale do Itaja\u00ed University (Univali), in Itaja\u00ed, Santa Catarina. The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> is hosting the event in partnership with Univali, as part of a series of meetings on the subject.<\/p>\n

Arab Chamber special projects adviser Tamer Mansour (pictured above<\/em>) and commercial consul and head of Egypt\u2019s Economic and Commercial Office in S\u00e3o Paulo, Mohamed ElKhatib, will speak to an audience of Univali students, business executives and the general public.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe students of today are the businessmen of tomorrow,\u201d says Mansour. The adviser intends to showcase to the youth, who will be leading local businesses one day, the potential that lies in Brazilian-Arab trade. Currently, the region is Brazil\u2019s fifth leading partner in trade, but the Arab Chamber intends to make it the third, according to Mansour.<\/p>\n

The adviser will discuss the Arab Chamber\u2019s food security project, which entails getting Arab investment into Brazil, in food production and infrastructure, especially in seaports, which can allow the food to get shipped back to Arab countries in the end. Mansour points out that Santa Catarina accounts for a big part of the agricultural products shipped abroad from Brazil, especially when it comes to poultry.<\/p>\n

Key topics in the lecture will include the current scenario in Brazilian-Arab trade, the biggest obstacles and opportunities in said trade, the business cases of Brazilian enterprises which achieved success on the Arab market and Brazil\u2019s strategic role in Arab food security. The Mercosur-Egypt free trade agreement, which became effective late last year, will be discussed by ElKhatib.<\/p>\n

The event\u2019s goal is to bring the Arab Chamber closer to the academic community in Itaja\u00ed and spread awareness of Arab countries. Last May, the Chamber opened a branch in Itaja\u00ed. There, local companies which ship goods to Arab countries can certify their export papers and find support to do business in the Middle East and North Africa.<\/p>\n

The lecture will begin at 7 pm and registration is available free of charge.<\/p>\n
