{"id":201666,"date":"2018-09-26T19:15:15","date_gmt":"2018-09-26T22:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/?p=201666"},"modified":"2019-06-30T16:54:59","modified_gmt":"2019-06-30T19:54:59","slug":"felipe-massa-races-formula-e-car-in-riyadh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/felipe-massa-races-formula-e-car-in-riyadh\/","title":{"rendered":"Felipe Massa races Formula E car in Riyadh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Brazilian race car driver\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/felipemassa.com.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Felipe Massa<\/a> was featured this Tuesday (25) at the event that launched the first\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fiaformulae.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Formula E<\/a>\u00a0race ever to take place in Saudi Arabia. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ad-diriyah-eprix.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Saudia Ad Diriyah E-Prix<\/a>\u00a0will open the 2018-2019 electric car racing championship season on December 15 in Riyadh.<\/p>\n<p>Massa, who has been hired by team Venturi for the upcoming season, drove around the city streets in a second-generation Formula E car that will be introduced in the 2018\/2019 championship.<\/p>\n<p>Formula E races are held in street circuits in major cities around the world. It\u2019s a fantastic feeling driving around the city, the town, it\u2019s historical. It will be a big event,\u201d local newspaper\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.arabnews.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Arab News<\/em><\/a> quoted Massa as saying.\u201d \u201cI\u2019m really happy to be a part of this new challenge for my career. In a new place and country, it\u2019s motivating,\u201d he went on.<\/p>\n<p>Up until last year, Massa was a Formula 1 driver for the Williams team. He ended his F1 run after 16 seasons, 41 podiums, 11 wins and one vice championship \u2013 with Ferrari, in 2008.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sharek<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a bid to get foreign tourists to attend the race, the Saudi government is putting in place the unprecedented &#8220;Sharek&#8221; online visa system. The GSA said that for the first time, people will be able to visit Saudi Arabia using \u201csuch a fast, uncomplicated\u201d process.<\/p>\n<p>The hosting of the race and related events, as well as the new tourist visa system, are part of the Vision 2030 plan being rolled out by heir prince Mohammed Bin Salman. The plan is intended to diversify the economy away from oil and to increase openness through a laxer approach to Saudi Arabia\u2019s strict religious code of conduct.
