Bras\u00edlia \u2013 The Extended National Consumer Price Index 15 (IPCA-15), a preview of official inflation in Brazil, showed a 0.58% hike in prices to date in October. The rate is up from 0.09% in September and 0.34% in October 2017.<\/p>\n
The numbers were made public this Tuesday (23) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The IPCA was 3.83% year-to-date through OCtober and 4.53% in the 12 months through October, up from 4.28% in the 12 months through September.<\/p>\n
Food and transportation items were the key drivers of the IPCA-15 rate in October. Food items, which had seen 0.41% deflation in the September preview, shifted to 0.44% inflation. Inflation in transportation costs went from 0.21% as of September to 1.65% this month.<\/p>\n
