{"id":203363,"date":"2018-10-25T18:56:14","date_gmt":"2018-10-25T21:56:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/?p=203363"},"modified":"2019-06-30T18:25:24","modified_gmt":"2019-06-30T21:25:24","slug":"cruising-season-passenger-numbers-could-be-up-15","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/cruising-season-passenger-numbers-could-be-up-15\/","title":{"rendered":"Cruising season poised for 15% hike in passenger numbers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rio de Janeiro \u2013 The 2018\/2019 ocean cruising season in Brazil will gross in excess of BRL 2 billion, with an expected 15% increase in total traveler numbers over 2017\/2018, Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA Brasil) chairman Marco Ferraz told\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/agenciabrasil.ebc.com.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Ag\u00eancia Brasil<\/em><\/a> this Thursday (25).<\/p>\n<p>The 2018\/2019 coastal cruise season, which spans Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay, will comprise seven ships \u2013 the same as in the last season. Marco Ferraz noted, however, that the ships will spend more time along the Brazilian coast this time around.<\/p>\n<p>The first transatlantic cruise liner is slated to dock in Rio de Janeiro on November 19, and the last one is set to depart on April 14, 2019. \u201cAs a result, the amount of beds on offer increased by 15%.\u201d A total of 133 cruises are available, with 500,000 beds between them.<\/p>\n<p>For the season, 470,000 travelers are expected, up from 418,000 in the last one. \u201cThe strategy of taking more time and adding routes for this season is ultimately equivalent to an additional cruise ship,\u201d said Ferraz.
