The number, concerning measurements made in September, was made public this Monday (5) by the Brazilian Wind Power Association (Abee\u00f3lica). The capacity matches that of Itaipu, the biggest hydroelectric plant in Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>Total wind power capacity is 14.34 GW, from 568 wind farms and over 7,000 aerogenerators in 12 different states in Brazil. The bulk of capacity is in the Northeast. Rio Grande do Norte ranks first at 146 wind farms and 3,949.3 megawatts (MW).
