The forecast was released this Thursday (08) by the National Supply Company (CONAB).

According to CONAB, over 80% of the oilseed has already been planted in Mato Grosso, due to increased rainfall in the region. In 2017, at this time of the year, the volume already planted was 40.5%. With a planted area that should stand between 35,400 hectares and 36,100 hectares, soy production will reach between 11.6 million and 119.3 million tons.

Regarding corn, the forecast is for a harvest of 90 million to 91 million tons, in a planted area ranging from 16,700 hectares to 16,800 hectares. At the time of the survey, the area dedicated to the cereal had already reached 45% in Minas Gerais, and 70.4% in Rio Grande do Sul.

“Soy is the main crop driving up this increase in area, particularly in agricultural frontier (new producing areas) areas,” said CONAB’s Agribusiness Information Supervisor, Cleverton Santana. “But, by planting soy, it pulls along other crops for the future. Corn, in the first season, in some regions, has seen an increase in area,” he added, explaining that the second season has yet to be assessed.

Translated by Sérgio Kakitani

Press Release

The National Supply Company (CONAB) released its forecast for the 2018/2019 harvest, expecting an increase between 2.5% and 4.5% over the previous period.

[102
2667,4986,3979,12370,2769
0":"post-203981","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-agribusiness","8":"tag-conab","9":"tag-corn","10":"tag-grain","11":"tag-milho-en-2","12":"tag-soy
The National Supply Company (CONAB) released its forecast for the 2018/2019 harvest, expecting an increase between 2.5% and 4.5% over the previous period.
