The states of Cear\u00e1 and Par\u00e1 registered the sharpest output growth with 3.7% and 3.5%, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Also registering an output growth were the states of Pernambuco (1.7%), Goi\u00e1s (1.4%), Rio Grande do Sul (1.3%), Rio de Janeiro (1.0%), Esp\u00edrito Santo (0.9%) and Mato Grosso (0.9%).<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, seven areas drove down the country\u2019s industrial output, particularly the states of Amazonas (-5.2%) and S\u00e3o Paulo (-3.9%). Other states to register a decline in output were Bahia (-3.3%), Paran\u00e1 (-3.1%), Minas Gerais (-1.9%) and Santa Catarina (-1.8%). The northeast region\u2019s industrial output slid 1.9%.<\/p>\n<p>Year-to-date, there were increases in 12 of the 15 areas surveyed.
