S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The\u00a0Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong><\/a> joined the 6th<\/sup> Arab Conference for Investment in Food Security this Wednesday (14) in Fujairah, the UAE. The Chamber\u2019s president Rubens Hannun attended the event alongside Operations director Tamer Mansour and senior marketing analyst T\u00e2mara Machado.<\/p>\n

Mansour (1st, R to L in the\u00a0picture at the top of this story<\/em>) sat on one of the panels, where he discussed Brazil\u2019s experience in agriculture, including research, family farming and food security efforts.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we went over a study underway by USP (the University of S\u00e3o Paulo), which is intended to provide a landmark to Arab investors, so they can learn more about investment opportunities in Brazil,\u201d Mansour said. \u201cBrazil has always been a friend and a partner [to Arab countries] when it comes to food security,\u201d he went on to say.<\/p>\n

The Arab Chamber has commissioned a study from the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea) at USP\u2019s school of agriculture (Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiros – Esalq. \u201cIt\u2019s a study on food security. It will identify opportunities and chart out potentially useful avenues for Brazilian-Arab investment,\u201d said Mansour.<\/p>\n

Due to the arid climate and rapidly growing population, food security is a major concern in Arab countries. Mansour said the conference also covered local efforts by Arab countries to achieve self-sufficiency in food production, like agricultural projects in fertile land in Sudan, Algeria, Jordan and Egypt.<\/p>\n

The conference is hosted by the Union of Arab Chambers and the Fujairah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event was kicked off by Fujairah crown prince Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi. It was also attended by the secretary generals Ahmed Aboul Gheit, of the League of Arab States, and Khaled Hanafy, of the Union of Arab Chambers.<\/p>\n

Hannun and other leaders attending the conference were welcomed by Fujairah\u2019s emir Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi at his palace.<\/p>\n
