S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Mercedes-Benz Brazil<\/a> shipped a batch of 40 Atego 1726 4\u00d74 semi-heavy trucks to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. So far this year, the company has sold 53 Atego 4\u00d74 units to Abu Dhabi, its press office told ANBA.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe attained a 30% increase in Atego 4\u00d74 sales to Abu Dhabi,\u201d says Roberto Leoncini, the Truck and Bus Sales and Marketing vice president with Mercedes-Benz Brazil. The whole of last year had seen only 42 Atego 4\u00d74s shipped to Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n

The deal is another move by the company towards its goal of increasing truck sales to the Middle East and Africa by m 40%. \u201cWe are moving within our expectations of a 40% hike in truck exports to the Middle East and Africa, by selling 350 units in 2018.\u201d The 40% growth is expected in comparison with 2017, which saw 260 Brazilian made trucks by Mercedes shipped to the Middle East and Africa.<\/p>\n

The region\u2019s countries to which the company shipped the most trucks this year were Algeria, the UAE and Egypt. By the end of November, Mercedes Brazil had shipped 250 trucks to the Middle East and Africa, including the 53 units to Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n

Trucks for Abu Dhabi<\/strong><\/p>\n

Optimized logistics were employed in shipping the latest truck batches to Abu Dhabi. The vehicles were shipped in four 10-unit batches. According to Mercedes, this latest sale was made to the Emirates Motor Company, an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer. The target buyers are clients active in utility services including water, oil and gas, municipal services, cargo transportation, and civil construction. The trucks will cover short or medium distances in the city, in unpaved roads and in the desert.<\/p>\n

Mercedes informed that vehicles shipped to Abu Dhabi leave the factory with adaptations, including 365\/85 wide super single tires, in a bid to increase off-road efficiency. The trucks also feature vertical exhaust, roof-mounted emergency lighting and dashboards in Arabic.<\/p>\n
