S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Three Arab companies have confirmed they\u2019ll join the 1st<\/sup> Anufood Brazil, international food and beverage show slated for March 12-14 at\u00a0S\u00e3o Paulo Expo<\/a>. The event is held by\u00a0Koelnmesse<\/a> Brazil in partnership with FGV Projetos<\/a>, the technical advisory unit of think tank Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Getulio Vargas. Koelnmesse is the company responsible for Anuga<\/a> (pictured<\/em>), a show held in Cologne, Germany and one of the biggest in the world.<\/p>\n

Organizers are expecting 100-plus exhibitors. Registrations are still open. So far, 38 international companies from 20 different countries have confirmed their attendance, with most hailing from the USA, China, Germany and Italy. Arab companies whose presence has been confirmed so far are\u00a0BGF Foodstuff<\/a>, from the UAE; Herbs Egypt<\/a>, from Egypt; and Al Rwad<\/a>, from Palestine. The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/a> will have its own stand in the show. It will offer tastings of typical Arab dishes, and an area for people to meet with Arab fairgoers \u2013 the Chamber has invited five Arab buyers to attend.<\/p>\n

The event will feature 10 sectors: Agrifoods; Meat; Chilled & Fresh Food; Dairy; Drinks & Hot Beverages; Fine Food; Bread & Bakery; Organic; Sweets & Snacks; and Food Service. The expo will run from 10 am to 7 pm.<\/p>\n

Besides the trade show, visitors can join the Anufood Brazil Congress, with panels on the industry during the event\u2019s first two days. The first panel, at 1 pm on the 12th<\/sup>, will cover Food Security and will feature Brazil\u2019s minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply Tereza Cristina. The second panel of the day will feature former foreign minister Aloysio Nunes speaking on \u201cInternational Agricultural Trade Facilitation \u2013 Regulatory Challenges.\u201d On the 13th<\/sup>, the themes will be \u201cThe Food Industry\u201d and \u201cBottlenecks in Food Distribution.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 1st<\/sup> Abrasel Summit \u2013 ESBRE: Knowledges for Bars and Restaurants, held by the Brazilian Bars and Restaurants Association in partnership with Anufood, will also run on the 12th<\/sup> and 13th<\/sup>, covering topics such as \u201cMarketing for bars and restaurants,\u201d \u201cPurchasing and inventory management,\u201d and \u201cFood service trends.\u201d<\/p>\n

The expo will also promote a guided tour in partnership with\u00a0Bares SP<\/a>, a guide of the city\u2019s bars and nightclubs, including craft beer tastings with a beer sommelier, a drink-making lesson with special ingredients like coffee, and a cocktail-making workshop.
