The deficit in current transactions (purchases and sales of goods and services, and cash transfers from the country to other nations) reached USD 6.548 billion, according to data published this Monday (25) by the Central Bank of Brazil. The result of last month surpassed the deficit in January 2018: USD 6.293 billion.

The increase in the current accounts’ deficit was due mainly to the decrease in the trade surplus (good exports higher than imports). In January, the trade surplus stood at USD 1.633 billion, over USD 2.4 billion in January 2018.

Translated by Guilherme Miranda

Archive/Agência Brasil

Deficit in Brazil’s current transactions stood at USD 6.5 billion in the first month of the year, more than in January 2018.

[91
37109,7088,7536
0":"post-209939","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-economy","8":"tag-contas-externas-en","9":"tag-current-accounts","10":"tag-current-transactions
Deficit in Brazil’s current transactions stood at USD 6.5 billion in the first month of the year, more than in January 2018.
["GET
