{"id":211223,"date":"2019-03-22T18:00:40","date_gmt":"2019-03-22T21:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/?p=211223"},"modified":"2019-06-30T16:31:40","modified_gmt":"2019-06-30T19:31:40","slug":"rabat-to-host-latin-film-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/rabat-to-host-latin-film-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Rabat to host Latin film festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Residents of Rabat, Morocco will be able to check out Latin movies starting April 2, in a festival featuring productions from 12 different countries, at the local chapter of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rabat.cervantes.es\/fr\/default.shtm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instituto Cervantes<\/a>.\u00a0Brazilian cinema is represented with <em>Jo\u00e3o \u2013 O Maestro<\/em>, a biopic of pianist Jo\u00e3o Carlos Martins and the struggles he faced throughout his career.<\/p>\n<p>Institut0 Cervantes said this is the fifth straight year it\u2019s hosting the festival, via the diplomatic representations of Spanish-speaking countries in Rabat. Brazil is the only Latin country featured in the festival whose official language is Portuguese.<\/p>\n<p>Jo\u00e3o, o Maestro will be shown at 6:30 pm on April 12 at Instituto Cervantes. Admission is free and moviegoers are expected to arrive 15 minutes early, since seats are limited.<\/p>\n<p>This 2017 production directed by Mauro Lima tells the story of the pianist since his childhood, plagued with health issues. Upon finding his vocation for the piano, his story takes a twist as he grows into a major upcoming talent for classical music worldwide. An accident and other events test his will, but the maestro never gives up.<\/p>\n<p>Also featured are movies made in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Argentina, Spain, Peru, Paraguay, Colombia, Panama, Chile, Guatemala and Venezuela. All films will show from 6:30 to 8:30, each on a different day, through April 14.<\/p>\n<p>The Dominican film, <em>Patricia, el Regreso del Sue\u00f1o<\/em> (<em>pictured above<\/em>) by Ren\u00e9 Fortunato, will screen on April 2, the festival\u2019s opening day. It tells the tale of a young man who returns to his country after living in New York for several years, to marry his long-time fianc\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>The Mexican-made <em>Generaci\u00f3n Spielberg<\/em>, by Gibr\u00e1n Baz\u00e1n, set to show on April 3, interweaves five different stories, including the lives of two lovers, a group of writers who get drunk, and a suicidal psychoanalyst.
