{"id":212114,"date":"2019-04-09T16:25:22","date_gmt":"2019-04-09T19:25:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/?p=212114"},"modified":"2019-06-30T12:36:51","modified_gmt":"2019-06-30T15:36:51","slug":"china-presents-its-new-silk-road-in-the-uae","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/china-presents-its-new-silk-road-in-the-uae\/","title":{"rendered":"China presents its \u2018New Silk Road\u2019 in the UAE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dubai \u2013 One of the events at the Annual Investment Meeting (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aimcongress.com\/search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AIM<\/a>) in Dubai, the UAE focused on China\u2019s market and investments. <em>&#8220;One Belt and One Road\u201d Business Cooperation and Development Forum<\/em> saw public and private delegates from China descend on the emirate to discuss the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eng.yidaiyilu.gov.cn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Belt-and-Road Initiative<\/a>, also known as the New Silk Road \u2013 a plan to develop a trade and investment route linking the Asian nation to other localities across Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe.<\/p>\n<p>According to Sharjah Investment Development Authority (<a href=\"https:\/\/shurooq.gov.ae\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shurooq<\/a>) CEO\u00a0Marwan Bin Jassim Al Sarkal,\u00a0there aren\u2019t as many Chinese investors in the UAE as he\u2019d wish. \u201cThere are investment opportunities in the UAE in fields including healthcare, clean energies and desalination. Sharjah, like the UAE itself, is a strategic hub. There\u2019s a huge opportunity to connect with the Arab world and North Africa,\u201d said Sarkal during the panel <em>UAE &#8211; An Important Hub in the One Belt and One Road: The Perception and Expectation of Chinese Companies<\/em> this Tuesday (9).<\/p>\n<p>Sarkal also brought up the tourism industry, especially the landmark sites in Sharjah and business destinations in Dubai. \u201cTo invest in the UAE means to invest in the source. Besides, there are opportunities in connection with the <a href=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/uae-expects-20-hike-in-investments-as-new-law-kicks-in\/\">new FDI regulations<\/a>, which are very inviting in the UAE,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Speakers in the panel included older-generation executives from China, who do business in more tradition-oriented fashion, and younger ones who master English in order to do business globally.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese panelists expressed an interest in investing in the UAE and underscored the FDI-friendly character of China\u2019s initiative. Requirements in order for China-UAE investment and deals to thrive include mutual studies of the destination site and its culture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnderstanding the culture of the country you intend to invest in, cherishing it, truly understanding how people live in that place, makes all the difference,\u201d concluded panelist Franz Zhiyun Jiang, a partner at Cathay Capital Management Group.
