Tunis \u2013 Tunisia welcomed 2.24 million tourists year-to-date through April, up 18% year-on-year,\u00a0Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP<\/a>)<\/em>\u00a0quoted the Ministry of Tourism as reporting this Friday (3).<\/p>\n

The result was driven by a 22% hike in European tourist arrivals, with numbers climbing 140% from Britain, 24% from France and 13% from the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

Year-to-date through April 20, Tunisia\u2019s tourism industry fetched EUR 294 million, up 16.5% year-on-year. Local currency revenue exceeded TND 1 billion, up 35%. The disparate rates are a result of a depreciated Tunisian dinar against the euro.<\/p>\n

Hotels in Tunisia registered 4.2 million stays through April 20, up 17.9% from a year ago.<\/p>\n

Tunisia\u2019s Ministry of Tourism intends to have seen 9 million tourists by the end of 2019, including 1 million from France, 390,000 from Germany and 640,000 from Russia. High season in Tunisia runs during summer in the Northern Hemisphere, from June to September.<\/p>\n
