S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 A tradition going back over 50 years, the June Folk Fest (Festa Junina<\/em>) at Lar S\u00edrio<\/em> is taking place on June 9 in S\u00e3o Paulo, with sponsorship from the\u00a0Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong><\/a>. A civil society non-profit organization, Lar S\u00edrio<\/em> (Portuguese for Syrian Home) was established by young people from Homs, Syria and has been doing social and education work for 95 years now. It currently caters to 3,000 children and youths and their families.<\/p>\n

The Lar S\u00edrio<\/em> staff is seeking out volunteers to work in the fest stalls. Just like last year (pictured<\/em>), the organization is expecting about 250 workers, among staff and volunteers. Applicants 16 or older are to call the fest coordinator at +55 11 2092-4811<\/p>\n

There will be 32 stalls offering traditional June folk fest foods, including Arab options and sweets. There will be dance presentations by the assisted children. Proceeds will be spent on daily services rendered to the kids and their families.<\/p>\n

Lar S\u00edrio<\/em> is also seeking sponsors for the stalls. Would-be sponsors can call Lisandra Martins at +55 11 2092-4811, who handles Institutional Relations at Lar S\u00edrio<\/em>.<\/p>\n
