A couple of years after Eça de Queiroz, Dom Pedro II traveled to that country to learn about the remains of the ancient Egypt. He identified with the Egyptians of those times.

Liliane Corrêa researched the theme and went to places in Egypt where Dom Pedro II were (pictured above) as part of her post-doctoral studies at the University of Aswan in Egypt. She is currently studying post-doctorate in the University of Porto and to do so she has gone to places Eça de Queiroz visited.
