S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 With a schedule in S\u00e3o Paulo the director of the Agribusiness Promotion Department of the Ministry of Foreign Relations, Alexandre Ghisleni (pictured above, C.)<\/em>, visited on Monday (27) the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/a><\/strong>. The director had a meeting with the Arab Brazilian Chamber president Rubens Hannun (pictured above, L<\/em>), Foreign relations vice-president Osmar Chohfi (pictured above, R)<\/em>, and CEO Tamer Mansour.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe expect to work with the Chamber to further trade relations with the Arab countries, establish a partnership between the government and the private sector to tap into new markets, and keep current ones. Our intention is to follow up [on these meetings between the government and the Arab Brazilian Chamber],\u201d pointed out the director of the department, which was created earlier this year and, according to the diplomat, handles the agribusiness trade promotion, Brazilian image and trade policies with other countries.<\/p>\n

The Arab Brazilian Chamber institutional relations manager Fernanda Baltazar presented the director trade figures and opportunities the Chamber has worked with. Besides the food security topic, which has been one of the entity\u2019s focus, Baltazar presented other possibilities of business, such as trade opportunities triangulation, involving Brazilian technologic expertise in agribusiness and Arab investment, which may be applied in partnership with African countries.<\/p>\n

Other topics covered during the presentation to increase the added value of Brazil\u2019s exports to the Arab countries were agricultural management technology and strategic partnerships. \u201cThe addition of value is a permanent priority. We are extremely interested in exploring the opportunities that arise so that Brazil may contribute to the food security in the Arab countries,\u201d pointed out Ghisleni.<\/p>\n

Trade shows such as SIAL Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and Food Africa, Cairo, Egypt, are in this year government agenda. Ghisleni also pointed out that the government participated in the Annual Investment Meeting<\/a> last April in Dubai, UAE. On that occasion Brazil took companies to the show parallel to annual forum on foreign direct investment (FDI).<\/p>\n
