Hold by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UNHCR<\/a>), it is supported by SESC SP and \u201cEstou Refugiado,\u201d a NGO that helps refugees find jobs in Brazil. The exhibition takes place inside a housing unit for refugee camps <em>(pictured above)<\/em>, where testimonials from 13 refugees in Brazil are printed.<\/p>\n<p>UNHCR uses this temporary housing units in several camps around the world, such as Roraima, Brazil. The testimonials at the exhibition are written by people from nine different countries, including Syria. Their accounts talk about the reason why they feel at home in Brazilian soil. For Ghazal Baranbo from Damasco, the most affectionate reminder of her homeland comes when her relatives visit her on Fridays. The 37-years-old is a refugee in Brazil with her husband and children. \u201cWatching my kids grow healthy makes me feel at home in Brazil,\u201d she says in her testimonial at the exhibition.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_216131\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-216131\" style=\"width: 199px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-216131\" src=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/EXPOSICAOACNUR-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/EXPOSICAOACNUR-199x300.jpg 199w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/EXPOSICAOACNUR.jpg 246w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 199px) 100vw, 199px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-216131\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ghazal Baranbo, from Damasco<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The show opened to mark the end of the course Human Refugees, which was given for teachers. It featured UNHCR Brazil representative Jose Egas. \u201cRefuge is a tool for protection. Be opinion-makers and show these people\u2019s reality in an empathic way. Refuge is a situation that may happen to all,\u201d Egas told the teachers.<\/p>\n<p>The UNHCR representative stressed the need to educate students by having them see the exhibit \u2013 which will be back at Sesc Campo Limpo next September \u2013 and witness the reality of refugees up close. The showing will open to the public on June 20, World Refugee Day, at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sescsp.org.br\/unidades\/69_OSASCO\/#\/uaba=programacao#\/fdata=atividades%3D%26id%3D69%26calendar_dates%3D%26remove_dates%3D%26maxResults%3D10%26page%3D7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SESC Osasco<\/a>, where it will run until July 11. It will also open at Rio de Janeiro\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.correios.com.br\/sobre-os-correios\/educacao-e-cultura\/centros-e-espacos-culturais-dos-correios\/centro-cultural-rio-de-janeiro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Centro Cultural dos Correios<\/a>, June 26 at 6:30 pm.<\/p>\n<p>Accounts by people from Afghanistan, Colombia, Cuba, Iran, Mozambique, Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Venezuela. Words like \u201cpeace,\u201d \u201csafety,\u201d \u201cprosperity\u201d and \u201cfreedom\u201d are recurrent, although each story reveals unique cultural traits and characteristics that will touch visitors\u2019 hearts.<\/p>\n<p>The Refugee Housing Unit (RHU) is a lightweight steel frame boasting solar-powered lamps and mobile charging, plus an innovative anchoring system and adaptability to different weather conditions. The facilities can shelter up to five people each and are currently available in six temporary shelters managed by the UNHCR and partner organizations in Boa Vista (Rondon 1, Rondon 2, Rondon 3, Jardim Floresta, Nova Cana\u00e3, and S\u00e3o Vicente).
