From January until July, sales recorded an accumulated growth of 3.3% in comparison with the same period of 2006, according to the Industry Indicators survey, disclosed yesterday (03rd) by the National Confederation of Industries (CNI).<\/P> According to the survey, conducted among large and medium-sized companies of 12 Brazilian states, the sales performance and the positive result of the remaining indicators attest to the expansion of production. Hours worked in production rose by 0.8% in July compared with June, in the series free from seasonal influences. During the same period, employment rate in the industry increased by 0.3%, and the use of the installed capacity increased to 82.6%.<\/P> The CNI survey highlights the fact that the employment indicator has been on the rise for 20 months in a row now. From January until July, the indicator records a 3.5% increase in comparison with the same period of 2006. The food and beverages sector has led hirings this year so far, at a 9.4% expansion.<\/P> The rise in employment is being accompanied by wages. The remuneration paid to industry workers, which, in addition to the salary, includes rewards, bonuses, and others, increased by 2.6% in July compared with June, and records a 4.9% increase for the year. The food and beverage industry is also the main responsible for the expansion in the industry payroll.
