{"id":253746,"date":"2019-08-03T07:00:35","date_gmt":"2019-08-03T10:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/?p=253746"},"modified":"2019-08-02T19:50:15","modified_gmt":"2019-08-02T22:50:15","slug":"film-festival-on-migration-accepting-entries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/film-festival-on-migration-accepting-entries\/","title":{"rendered":"Film festival on migration accepting entries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The International Organization for Migration (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iom.int\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IOM<\/a>) is accepting entries through August 9 for its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iom.int\/global-migration-film-festival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Global Migration Film Festival<\/a>.\u00a0Held every December in over 100 countries, the event is the world\u2019s leading cultural initiative on migration.<\/p>\n<p>Fiction, documentary and animated films are eligible, in feature and short format, from anywhere in the world. The films must deal with the challenges and possibilities of migration, as well as migrants\u2019 contributions to the communities that have embraced them. \u201cFilms that tackle negative perceptions of migrants, defy stereotypes and portray positive and welcoming actions by and toward migrants are encouraged,\u201d according to the festival rules.<\/p>\n<p>A committee of international professionals will determine the Official Selection, including full-length features, with a total running time exceeding 41 minutes, and short films, with a total running time with a minimum of 15-40 minutes. Only films submitted through the festival\u2019s designated platforma <a href=\"https:\/\/filmfreeway.com\/GlobalMigrationFilmFestival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FilmFreeway<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Films must be spoken or subtitled in English. Organizers encourage subtitles even in films with English dialogue, to ensure maximum comprehension for global audiences.<\/p>\n<p>Films completed on or after January 1, 2016 will be accepted, provided that they haven\u2019t been entered in past editions of the festival. Entry is free of charge. Films produced with any financial support from IOM are eligible for the competition, but not eligible for grants.
