S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Lebanon residents will be able to check out Brazilian movies at from September 3 to 8. The 4th<\/sup> Brazilian Film Festival will feature eight productions in Beirut and Saida. The event is held by the Embassy of Brazil in Beirut and the Brazil-Lebanon Cultural Center<\/a>,\u00a0in collaboration with Cinema Metropolis, in Beirut, and Ishbilia Theatre and Art-Hub, in Saida.<\/p>\n

The event opens 7:30 pm on September at Cinema Metropolis, followed by a showing of Loveling<\/em>, by Gustavo Pizzi. The film portrays the problems faced by the mother in a Rio de Janeiro middle-class family whose son decides to move to Germany, leaving her to deal with the family routine. Made in 2018, Loveling <\/em>won the Audience Award at the Gramado Film Festival do Festival de Cinema de Gramado.<\/p>\n

Also featured in Beirut will be A Man Called Death<\/em>, by Henrique Goldman, about a man who becomes a hitman; Before I Forget<\/em>, \u00a0by Tiago Arakilian, about a retired judge who becomes a partner of a strip club; and Something Like That<\/em>, by Esmir Filho & Mariana Bastos, which keeps track of a couple\u2019s relationship over a ten-year period.<\/p>\n

Cinema Metropolis will also host sessions of Women<\/em> on the Edge<\/em>, directed by Luis Pinheiro, which tells the story of several women, each wrapped up in their own relationships; and The Cambridge Squatter<\/em>, by Eliane Caff\u00e9, on refugees from Palestine, Congo and Colombia who squat an abandoned building alongside local low-income workers in downtown S\u00e3o Paulo, Brazil.<\/p>\n

Films on show at Ishbilia Theatre and Art-Hub, in Saida, from September 5 to 8, will be The Cambridge Squatter<\/em>; Before I Forget<\/em>; Jo\u00e3o, o Maestro<\/em>, by Mauro Lima, a biopic on pianist Jo\u00e3o Carlos Martins; and Filhos de Bach<\/em>, by Ansgar Ahlers, about a German man who teaches music to poor children in Brazil.<\/p>\n

All movies are subtitled in English, the Brazil-Lebanon Cultural Center said. Tickets cost LBP 8,000, or USD 5.3 at current exchange rates.<\/p>\n
