S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Algeria will hold its largest construction trade show from November 19 to 23. Registrations for companies interested in exhibiting are open and must be made through the Algerian Company of Fairs and Exports (SAFEX), which will hold the the 17th International Public Works and Construction Machinery Show (SITP 2019).<\/p>\n
Figures made public by the Algeria\u2019s National Statistics Office and published on the news agency Algerie Press Service<\/a> (APS) show that the country grew by 3.3% last year \u2013 except for the hydrocarbon sector \u2013 and that construction, public works and hydraulic industry was one of the driving factors, since it grew by 5.2% from 2018. In Q1 2019, its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) climbed 1.5%.<\/a><\/p>\n As per material released by Algeria\u2019s embassy to Brazil, the show is the ideal environment for companies to get to know investment opportunities and partnerships in public works in the Algerian market. The embassy wants to attract the participation of Brazilian companies as exhibitors in the fair. In 2018 edition, 307 exhibitors from nine countries, the organization said.<\/p>\n As per information on the SAFEX\u2019s website, the show comes in a good time of the Algerian economy. The construction and public works industry are one of the areas chosen by the government as strategic for the country\u2019s growth. \u201cThe event is key for foreign companies aiming to break into the Algerian market,\u201d wrote SAFEX. As per information made public by the organization through SITP, foreign companies will have a chance to make connections from ministries and important institutions.<\/p>\n The trade show usually features drilling equipment, sewage construction and maintenance equipment, hydraulic tools, earthmoving and road construction machinery, railway construction machinery, construction tools, building site installations, construction material recycling machinery, elevators, and others.<\/p>\n Brazil-Algeria trade spans several sectors. Algeria is the main destination of Brazilian sugar and imports other products from the country as well, such as soy oil, corn, beef, ore, and others. The list of ten products that Brazil most sold to Algerians year-to-date through July includes some related to the construction and public works industry, such as iron and steel tubes used for exploring oil and gas, as well as bulldozers and angledozers.<\/p>\n Year-to-date through July, Brazilian exports to Algeria grossed USD 631 million. More than a half (USD 373 million) were sugar, according to figures from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (SECEX) compiled by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s Market Intelligence Department. Tubes sales stood at USD 19.4 million, while bulldozers and angledozers reached USD 3.8 million. On the other hand, Algeria exported USD 1 billion to Brazil, out of which USD 928 million were fuels and USD 161 million were fertilizers.<\/p>\n The International Public Works Show is held by SAFEX together with the Algeria\u2019s Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
